Designed around family needs
The project was commissioned as accommodation for the owner’s daughters. That purpose called for more than a compact guest space: the brief required three proper bedrooms, practical storage and everyday comfort.
The result shows how a custom granny flat can be shaped around the people who will use it rather than forcing the household into a standard one-bedroom plan.
A detailed comfort specification
Published project information highlights Westinghouse appliances, gas heating and split-system air conditioning. Each bedroom includes built-in storage and provision for wall-mounted televisions.
The large bathroom includes a double shower and floor-to-ceiling tiling, giving the shared space a more substantial finish.
Finished on time
The project title records on-time completion, an important outcome for a family preparing to use the new accommodation.
For Whalan homeowners, this case study demonstrates the value of beginning with the required number of occupants, their day-to-day needs and the finishes that will make the dwelling comfortable over the long term.
