Can I actually build a granny flat in my backyard?
Good question, and one we hear a lot. The short answer? It depends on a few key things. Here's a quick cheat sheet for what most Sydney blocks need:
Land size
At least 450 square metres
Frontage
12 metres wide from the front of your existing home
Setbacks
3 metres from the rear fence, and 0.9 metres from the sides
Trees
Any tree taller than 6 metres needs at least 3 metres clear
